1. Eat a Calorie-Restricted Diet, Rich in Superfoods

People should watch their daily caloric intake and eat a balanced diet. This helps reduce premature ageing health risk of being overweight, says the National Institute on Aging. But consuming the right foods, like nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables, flaxseed, and other superfoods, matters too.

2. Exercise at Least 30 Minutes a Day, Aerobically

For a long life, the Mayo Clinic advises at least 30 minutes a day of aerobic exercise, like walking, swimming, or participating in an aerobic exercise class. How does it help? Aerobic exercise boosts immunity, strengthens the heart, and keeps the arteries clear – all factors which help prevent disease.

While stress can lead to heart attacks, cancer, and other major physical diseases, it also plays a role in mental illness, such as depression and anxiety disorders. But learning to manage stress, through meditation and therapy, for example, can help prevent the onset of diseases.

Smoking is attributed to the onset of many types of cancer, including cancer of the lung, bladder, mouth, and pancreas. Some can go for vigils for days and still feel okay, while other may not be fine anymore after the first day. It is also not a sign of spirituality as some count spirituality.

Not only do pets help lower blood pressure, according to a National Institutes of Health study, heart attack patients who have pets survive longer than those who don’t. Although this is optional, but I am personally finding pleasure with my pet, makes me smile, and seems to understand me and my emotions far more than my closest friend.

The National Institute on Aging reports that people who participate in activities they enjoy may be at less risk of developing diseases, including dementia, and live longer than those who remain idle.
